CIRSEAU will hold a Circular Water Economy Conference in Cyprus the 29-30 of October

The CIRSEAU project is holding the Circular Water Economy Conference 2026 during the 29th and 30th of October 2026 in the University of Cyprus, located in Nicosia.

Organised by CIRSEAU, the University of Cyprus and TU Delft, the event seeks to address one critical challenge: why circular water solutions do not yet scale in practice. This event wants to gather key European actors in the same room and answer this question altogether.

EU projects, policy makers, industry, utilities, policy makers and investors will present case studies, gaps and challenges of the water sector, which slow down the upscale of water solutions. The conference’s programme will focus on the implementation, experience, system-level constraints and pathways to foster the scaling of these solutions. These are the topics which will be discussed:

  • Scaling circular water solutions: How circular water solutions move from pilot to full-scale
  • implementation, and what enables or prevents this transition.
  • Market uptake and business models: Exploring viable business models, value creation, and the conditions for market adoption of circular water solutions.
  • Implementation barriers and system constraints: Understanding the regulatory, financial, and organisational barriers that prevent circular solutions from scaling.
  • Financing water resilience: Addressing investment challenges, risk allocation, and financing mechanisms to support water resilience and circularity.
  • Skills and workforce development: Building the skills, capacity, and professional profiles required for a water-smart and circular economy.
  • Lessons from practice (case studies): Insights from real-world implementation experiences, highlighting what worked, what failed, and why.

These are some of the keynote speakers and high-level panellists confirmed so far:

Have you been involved in implementing a circular water solution under a completed H2020 project?

Circular Water Economy 2026 invites case study owners with real-world implementation experience to contribute to a European dialogue on what enables — and prevents — scaling in practice.

We are particularly interested in utilities, operators, technology providers, and industrial users who have moved beyond pilot stages or attempted to do so.

Please send a short expression of interest (project name, role, and implementation context) to:

Dr. Ir. Dimitrios Xevgenos (Chair of the Scientific Committee): d.xevgenos@tudelft.nl

Following an initial pre-screening, selected case studies will be invited for a short call to further refine their contribution and confirm their inclusion in the final programme.
